ALLAN ADLER

Allan Adler is a world-renowned Entertainment/Celebrity photographer whose work has been seen in almost every major magazine worldwide.   With over five incredible decades behind the camera, he has shot everyone from the elegant Jacqueline Kennedy to the legendary “King of Late Night TV” Johnny Carson.

At the age of 13 he discovered his passion after receiving a gift of a lifetime: his first camera.  Wide-eyed and excited, he took the camera and, through its tiny hole, opened his eyes to a world of adventure and excitement.  He hasn’t stopped shooting since.

Allan's professional career began at the age of 19 when he found himself shooting on the sidelines of a Los Angeles Rams football game October 24, 1977. After submitting the photographs to a local sports news tabloid, he landed a job as Staff Photographer and met his first mentor, Ron Delpit. Over the following two years he photographed hundreds of professional and college sporting events, including the Super Bowl, Rose Bowl, NBA Playoffs, LLB Division Championships, heavyweight Prize Fights, NHL Playoffs, and Professional Gold and Tennis Tournaments.

Allan’s hard work, dedication and magical eye behind the lens led him into the world of celebrity, where he soon found himself shooting the likes of Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Farrah Fawcett, Brooke Shields, The Rolling Stones, Barbara Streisand, Clint Eastwood, and Johnny Carson.  Carson executives recognized his talent immediately and made Allan their photographer for “The Tonight Show” and all shows produced by Carson Productions.

Allan’s brilliant run with “The Tonight Show” opened even more doors, and he went on to work on hundreds of television series, movies and specials.  The back-lots of Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, MGM, Columbia and Fox Studios became his stomping ground; the major networks ABC, CBS and NBC sent him on endless assignments where he found himself hanging out of helicopters, airplanes and speeding vehicles to catch that special shot.

Still, Allan’s celebrity photographs remain some of his most breathtaking work.  With his unique ability to bring out the uninhibited and outrageous personalities of his subjects, Allan has been able to organically capture their sensitivity and vulnerability in a way very few others can.  Be it reportage captures of the exquisite Jacqueline Kennedy or the cantankerous personality of the legendary John Wayne, Allan's work gives you the feeling that you were in the moment when the image was taken.

Allan is deeply inspired by the human spirit, and after enduring (and still overcoming) several health-related issues over the past decade, he remains resilient — and has developed an even greater appreciation for the miracle of life.   A committed father and a good friend to old and new, Allan has always been touched with a sense of social responsibility.  He's driven by a deep desire to give back to the community, which is why he’s always paying it forward with the rising new talent he meets, giving them incredible opportunities the way others gave to him.

Allan continues to be just as passionate about photography today as he was the day he received his first camera.  As an expert in his field, major camera companies from around the world value his opinion and allow his expertise to shoot with their latest equipment.  And, with his extensive knowledge and background in web marketing and development, and his personal friendship with Samy that spans over 35 years, Allan is well-positioned to promote SAMYS CAMERA— LA’s premier camera store and rental house — with his photographic skills and knowledge through his Gots 2 Have blog.

A bona fide rock star in the world of photography, one thing is certain: Allan’s photographs will always be remembered, while future photographs are still waiting to be taken.
